Then, Now

“Then, Now” Explained:

I may not remember

The first time I saw you

Cause this was a slow burn

The pace of your laughter

And avoiding capture

Was my only concern

Oh but then we were lovers

Just watching the sun rise

With coffee in bed

You take me back to the mountains

Reciting your poems

With my head on your chest

Are we who we were then, now?

And will you come back if I change

I loved you so much that I fell away

And I miss your touch every day

These days you don’t look at me

And I cannot blame you

It’s hard on your heart

Our journals are empty

Nothing is missing

It’s not who we are

I wish I knew the answer

I hope this goes away

I wish I knew the answer

I just want you to stay
